Are you prepared for an emergency in your home?

Home Emergency cover is designed to protect you following a sudden or unexpected event which, if not dealt with quickly, would render your home unsafe or insecure, cause further damage to your home, or cause personal risk.

In an emergency, finding someone to call that you can trust and who will respond quickly without charging you the earth is often very challenging. The intention of our Home Emergency policy is to provide a qualified engineer, vetted by us, to come to your assistance quickly in the event of a claim.

As well as covering eleven unexpected emergencies, there is no excess in the event of a claim and you can make up to 3 claims per year up to a total value of £1,000 per year.

Our policy covers emergencies relating to:

  • Main Heating System
  • Plumbing & Drainage
  • Gas Supply
  • Electricity Supply
  • Water Supply Pipe
  • Hot Water
  • Roofing
  • Security
  • Lost Keys
  • Cooker/Oven
  • Pest Infestation

If any of these emergencies occur which cause your home to become unsafe or cause a loss of these services, we will send an engineer to your home to complete a repair and prevent or limit any further damage. We will pay for call out charges, labour, and materials to get your home back to a safe state or restore the key services.

Home Emergency cover is not a maintenance policy and does not cover the cost of routine maintenance in your home, nor does it provide or cover the cost of boiler servicing or maintenance.

Should you need to claim, our claims line is available 24 hours per day, 365 days a year. Our experienced claim handlers will get a engineer to you quickly.

Even if you have an emergency that is not covered by your policy, the claims handlers will still assist you by arranging for a vetted engineer to attend your home at your own cost.

How to Claim

Major emergencies which could result in serious injury to the public or damage to property should be immediately advised to the supply company and the public emergency services as appropriate.

All requests for emergency assistance must be made through the helpline within 12 hours of the emergency occuring.

The helpline will appoint an approved engineer to attend your home, provided that this is not precluded by adverse weather conditions, industrial disputes, or any other circumstances preventing access to the home or otherwise making the provision of emergency assistance impossible.

The policy does not provide cover for any repairs, damage or other loss resulting from gas leaks.

When an emergency has just impacted your home, the last thing you want to worry about is how you’ll find an engineer to fix it quickly without charging you the earth.

Our cover gives you peace of mind knowing that all you need to do is make a simple phone call at any time of day, 365 days of the year, and our experienced claims handlers will take care of the rest, sending a vetted engineer to resolve the issue and protect your home from any further damage.

No – our policy is only valid for your home that is occupied by the policyholder, not tenants.

Our policy provides cover for your main heating system when it is powered by:

  • Gas boiler
  • Gas combination (combi) boiler
  • Gas condensing boiler
  • Electric boiler

We are not able to provide cover for the following:

  • Oil boilers
  • Storage heaters

We are not able to provide cover for any boiler that is over 10 years old.

You are still able to take out a policy if your heating system is excluded though, and will still benefit from the 10 other emergencies that are covered for just £10 per month.

No, currently we are not able to offer a boiler service.

However, our experience is that this should only cost around £80 (depending on your local area and circumstances). This is often still cheaper than packages that bundle it into the price, and gives you the flexibility to schedule the service for whenever is most convenient for you rather than when the insurer dictates.
