Cold weather can play havoc with your property, so it is worth protecting your home to prevent any major damage.
In particularly cold weather it pays to keep your central heating on constant, not on a timer, in every room, if possible. If you happen to be going away, either leave the heating on or drain the system, and remember to leave your insurance details with a friend or neighbour.
If you’re leaving your property unoccupied for a while, it’s better to drain the system. To do so, turn off the stopcock, shut down the boiler and open all taps. If you’re not sure about this, speak to a plumber.
Frozen water can easily crack pipes and water tanks, which are usually in the loft, and can cause extensive damage to your home.
Here are some tips to help prevent frozen pipes.

In an emergency it is important to have your insurance documents close to hand. Put them somewhere safe and dry and tell other family members where they are in case you are not at home. If you’re a customer with us at coverbaloo, then you don’t need to worry about this as all your documents are always available online through your Customer Account here.
